Calvin and Camille

Calvin’s Story

I grew up on the west coast in the rainy pacific northwest. Playing basketball in the rain was a normal activity! I was blessed with 2 loving parents and 4 siblings. We went to church every Sunday, so I got a good foundation of what being a christian was, although I mostly thought it was just a matter of doing the right stuff and you’ll get to heaven.

Fast forward to college where I was constantly being tested by all the things the world had to offer. I realized I had to really work at this being a christian stuff. I started reading my bible and going to bible studies. I realized God isn’t just inside church, He is everywhere, with you and me. I have always felt God with me, but for most of my life it was a one-sided relationship. I would call on Him when I needed help.

Up until recently that’s how it’s been sadly, but now, I have a desire to follow Him and listen to Him and it’s already been crazy what He is doing! I never thought I would be going on a 6 month long DTS/mission trip. It’s awesome how God has put the desire in Camille at the same time! I’m excited what’s in God’s will when my free will doesn’t get in the way.

Camille’s Story comin’ soon!

For those of you curious about us, here is some fun facts we like to throw out when people ask :)

  • We have been married for 5 years since July 2009.
  • We met at Dunkin Donuts - a coffee chain here in America.
  • When people are lazy they call us Cal n Cam
  • We both have a passion for God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit and are serious about spreading the Gospel!

Why are we dropping everything to go all over the world?

God has given us a hunger and a passion to seek Him over the past few months. So much so that we want to go tell others about the glory of His kingdom and spread His love to the sick, impoverished, hungry and hurting.

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20

We feel led to help fulfill God’s great commission that Jesus talks about in Matthew. Just as a school teacher needs training before he or she teaches, we feel the need to learn how to become a trained disciple so we are ready to effectively spread and teach the Gospel to others. The Youth with a Mission (YWAM) Community Transformations Discipleship Training School (DTS) is the perfect fit to train us and take what we learn in the classroom to the nations. Starting at the end of September, we will spend 3 months in Kona, HI and then spend 3 months on an outreach (see below).
