Camille and I did 3 months of the 9 months of the School of Biblical Studies (SBS) program in Taiwan in March 2011. We feel God had us in a season of learning over the past few years and this was the icing on the cake. Of course, although the intense season of learning is over, we continue to learn and grow with the Holy Spirit as our teacher. This school got us immersed in the Word of God and we counted our 3 months as valuable in learning about our Creator.
You learn to study the Scriptures, using the inductive approach, in which you observe what the text says and then let it shape your beliefs as opposed to the deductive method, where one approaches the Bible with a preconceived idea and searches the scripture for support.
School of Biblical Studies I:
-This phase begins with a three-week seminar teaching the principles of inductive Bible study. Books studied are the Synoptic Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, the Pauline Epistles and the book of Hebrews.
School of Biblical Studies II:
-In the second phase, students complete the New Testament books, and after an introductory seminar to the Old Testament, study from Genesis through Samuel.
School of Biblical Studies III:
-The third phase of Bible Study completes the study of the Old Testament’s historical books, the Prophets and Wisdom Literature. A seminar precedes both the Prophets and Wisdom Literature, giving the students the skills necessary to study these parts of the Bible.
