We have returned from our “retreat” advance to Makapala for DTS staff bonding and to receive from God his plans for the school. Basically, we took 3 days and offered them up to God to do what he wills for us as a group and school. We knew one thing: God would meet and speak to us as He always does. His faithfulness is awe-inspiring.
Unity through the Spirit
We spent more time in the living room than anywhere else. We gave our testimonies, played Mafia, and told really, really, long jokes with short punchlines (ahem, Matt Rogers). We had intense beautiful times of worship and prayer for the school and each other. I think prayer is a uniter. It shouldn’t surprise me because Jesus said where two or three are gathered in His name so I am there among them (Matthew 18:20) and where Jesus dwells there is truth, life, and the way and all the fruits of the Spirit. It is an amazing phenomenon to see people I barely knew become people I cherish in a matter of hours. There is no other explanation other than it being a fruit of the Spirit as a result of inviting the Spirit to dwell among us. I love it.
Randomly, Amy Sollars (Fire & Fragrance Leader) felt led to come and join us for an afternoon with two staffers. She hung out, ministered, and prayed over all of us. These great few days won’t soon be forgotten.
Out of all this, we came back to campus united, refreshed with vision, and excited about what God is doing and going to do in this DTS and the world. We also felt the name of the school didn’t fit. CLASSIC dts? This isn’t in anyway a Classic DTS. Its radical, awakened, love-filled, spirit-filled, joy-is-our-strength, Jesus followers who have burning hearts to disciple the nations. We are working on and praying about a more fitting name. Jesus have Your way.

There are probably more, but I don’t know them! Comment your website address on this post, staffers!
