Jonathan

God is awesome! We went to feed the homeless in downtown Greenville tonight. I was so tired on the way, yawning like crazy, not really that excited about going. So I prayed to God to take away my tiredness and give me a joyful spirit! (I really did.)

I really didn’t know what to expect. I’ve never fed the homeless before. I expected there to be a few people, dressed in worn out clothes, growing beards and what not. What I did NOT expect was to see someone I knew! I had to do a double-take because his hair had grown out quite a bit. I met Jonathan a couple of years ago at the gym I work at. He was really nice. He actually wanted to go to school to become a personal trainer. Since that’s what I am, we had something to talk about. I hadn’t seen him at the gym in quite awhile.

It turns out he’s been on the streets for a few weeks, just trying to get by. His family situation isn’t good at all. He found a job a week or so ago and has been working doing some construction. He is only 18. He said the streets are ROUGH, which I could imagine. He said you can’t really trust anyone. He’s been offered drugs, alcohol, offers to prostitute himself, and the like.

I was able to witness to him for quite a while and just hang out w/him. Heather Krook and I prayed with him. He does believe in Jesus and said he completely believes the bible.  He said he’s not angry at God and that he thinks this is just one of those trials and tests that life sometimes throws at you.  I really think it was a divine appointment for Jonathan and I to have met like that. God has such a major plan and purpose for his life.

I haven’t yawned since stepping out of the car to feed the homeless! God continues to amaze me everyday. I hope that both Calvin and I will be able to be there for Jonathan to keep loving on him and through that lead him to a deeper relationship w/Christ!

Oh! Sorry..I know people go every week. That was our first time last week. With our Thursday night group at The Vine we do street ministry of some sort every other week. So I know for sure next Thurs. we are going! You should come! We are meeting at 5:30 at The Vine! We are going to the same place again.

P.S. I am sure you were able to bless some people w/Strossners! :)
