Miracles under the Banyan Tree..and everywhere else

This tuesday, we partnered with the Crossroads DTS class for our Kona community outreach. After a worship session to get on fire. We went out. Camille and I were coupled with a husband and wife, Brian and Janelle, from Alaska.

Actually the story doesn’t start there. Earlier that day, Camille was feeling like we aren’t making a difference on our outreaches. We had been turned down for prayer quite a few times. I tried to encourage her and then went to the prayer room. In the prayer room, we prayed for an outpouring of miracles for the outreach. As I walked out of the prayer room, Jeff was there and gathered a few of us to pray for this girl that had sinus pain for a week now. We all layed hands on her and prayed for God to heal her…and He did!

I got back to the room and Cam said she had prayed and got a few words for tonight including Banyan Tree (specifically the one in Downtown, homeless and John. She also felt God was saying the verse about being fisher’s of men. She also prayed for an outpouring of the holy spirit for the night.

Back to the story…we were heading downtown talking to our new friends from Alaska. Once downtown, we all prayed again for possible opportunities and God’s leading. Jeff met up with us and we were casually walking and talking not really paying attention to where we were. We just got done talking with a woman and her grandkids (all of whom had very long Hawaiian names that had cool Christian meanings). We prayed for her and her grandkids and started walking again and approached the banyan tree not even too aware of it.

Just then I saw this homeless guy we prayed for a few weeks ago. I was excited to see him and greeted him with a hug and we all started talking with him and his friend. His name was John. They had been drinking and just got some more beer.  It took awhile for them to realize we weren’t just Christians who just wanted to pray and leave. We bought them some soda and hung out.

They talked about their life on and off the streets, their baby’s mamas, and John’s friend, Dickie, confessed he threw out a bible today. We told him, we weren’t the bible police haha. During our conversation, Jeff got a Word about a hurt neck and asked them of any of them had a hurt neck or if someone in the family did. Dickie was like, “Whoa! how did you know that, man!” He did have a hurt neck! Jeff told him God wanted to heal it. We all prayed for his neck and Dickie said as soon as we let go the pain disappeared! We told Him God loved him and healed him.

We started talking about how much God loves John that he would reveal the meeting to Camille earlier in the day. We prayed for him as well (his right side was partially paralyzed), after which he was dizzy and his vision was blurry. My hand I was laying on him had an amazing sensation, so much so that I kept shaking it after praying! We told them, we’ll see them next week or because we had to go to the group meeting. John was met by another group from our class who prayed for him, again, and he got dizzy, again. Dizziness is common when the holy spirit is stirred up inside someone. Before we left, John said something like, “Man God keeps sending people to pray with me.” We keep telling him, God is after his heart because He loves John.

Back at our group meeting, it seemed like God met everyone because the stories were all amazing. We decided to pray for people in our group with ailments or sickness. A guy was healed of his chronic headaches from Lymes Disease that he’d had for 5 years. I think we had three or four other healings with ears and other ailments.

There was also a guy, Shawn, that came to hang out with our group. We always offer to pray for people who hang out with us so Camille and our friends Ian, Tehra, Rikke and Jessica prayed for him. Camille and Ian both were getting accurate words about him because after the prayer he was like “You guys were dead on”. He was crying. He said as he was leaving,”I want you to know me God”. He’s a catholic. Pray for Shawn that God would reveal His Love in a personal way. He’s coming to our Thursday gathering on base.

I talked to Ian today and he said he was thinking about healings and salvations and came to revelation that salvation is the ultimate healing. We get excited over the physical healings (which we should!), but isn’t it awesome when a new brother or sister enters the Kingdom of God! Hallelujah!
